Q1 What qualities do you think make a great leader, especially for women in business?
I feel integrity is the cornerstone of effective leadership, as it builds trust and respect among team members, ensures decisions are based on sound moral principles, and sets a positive example for the entire organization.
Closely related, honesty fosters open communication, builds credibility and authenticity, and helps navigate challenging situations.
Strong communication skills are essential for any leader but are particularly impactful for women in business. Excellent communicators articulate their vision and goals clearly, listen actively and empathetically, adapt their style to different audiences, and use their voice to advocate effectively for their teams.
The last skill that I feel is important is resiliency. Resilient leaders demonstrate adaptability, emotional intelligence and stress management skills, all of which help their teams to remain steadfast during turbulent times. Resilience also promotes a growth mindset, enabling individuals to view challenges as opportunities for innovation and personal development.
Ultimately, strong leaders prioritize the growth and well-being of their team members while creating a supportive and empowering work environment. By embodying these qualities, women leaders have a powerful foundation to excel in the business world.
Q2 What does success look like to you?
Success to me is being respected by my peers and leadership team, knowing that I have earned it. It means my team recognizes that I will always prioritize doing what is right for them and for the patients we serve, fostering an environment of integrity, compassion and accountability. As a leader, I believe success is ultimately determined by the team you build — their growth, achievements and team culture. Success is about having no regrets on the path I have chosen, confident that every step was taken with purpose, authenticity, and a commitment to making a meaningful difference to my co-workers, patients and community.
