Q1 What inspired you to enter your field?
I never set out to work in marketing, let alone finance. While pursuing my degree in music, I took a job at a radio station, then moved into television. That’s when my eyes were opened to the power of storytelling and how great marketing helps businesses grow and genuinely connect with people. Over time, I realized marketing gave me the perfect blend of creativity and purpose.
At 3Rivers, I’ve had the runway to build both. This work is so much more than banking. We help people realize their dreams through financial wellness and give back to the communities we serve in big ways. I work alongside a team that feels like family; where everyone’s strengths contribute to a greater good.
Q2 Who has been a mentor or role model in your career, and how have they influenced you?
Kathy Levendoski was one of my first mentors when I started as an account executive at WANE-TV. She helped me break through gender stereotypes and taught me to lead with confidence, expertise, integrity and authenticity. Her mantra — “Don’t ask, don’t get” — stuck with me. Especially as women, we’re often conditioned to wait for someone else to recognize our value. Kathy taught me to learn everything you can, speak up and be intentional about not only what you want, but what you need and deserve.
Everyone I’ve ever coached knows that mantra, and it’s often worked for them, too. Kathy is now retired but remains a dear friend and a powerful reminder of the pay off of hard work.
Q3 What qualities make a great leader, especially for women in business?
Leadership takes more than experience. It requires perspective, emotional intelligence and the courage to connect. For women, it often means juggling the job and everything outside of the office. Great leaders listen, adapt and empower others to succeed professionally and thrive personally. One of our team’s core values is FUN, because if we can’t laugh and learn through the hard stuff, it’s just a job.
