Faces of Women in Business

Q1 What inspired you to enter your field?
I joined Budget Blinds to acquire skills in a new trade and to collaborate with my husband, who owns the business. This endeavor has proven to be professionally and personally fulfilling. It has enhanced our communication, provided us with a unified vision of our goals, facilitated mutual support and encouragement, and strengthened our relationship.

Q2 How do you maintain a balance between work and personal life?
Working with my husband can occasionally blur the boundary between professional and personal life, but it has been crucial to separate these aspects to prevent burnout. To manage my workload effectively, I use calendar apps to organize my day and prioritize key tasks, thereby maximizing my work hours and ensuring time for personal matters. Additionally, I schedule time for relaxation and leisure activities, making a concerted effort to engage with family and friends.

Q3 How do you stay motivated and continue to grow professionally?
I regularly reflect on my career and reassess my goals and priorities. For inspiration, I visit open houses, attend design exhibitions, and stay updated on trends in architecture and interior design. I follow influential designers on social media and explore design blogs for fresh ideas. Home trends are fluid, so it’s important to keep learning about new techniques, materials and technologies. I attend workshops, online courses, and industry events to network and learn from experts. I see challenges as opportunities for growth, so I find it refreshing when I’m presented with projects that push me out of my comfort zone. Lastly, engaging in window covering projects beyond the residential environment has afforded me valuable opportunities for new collaborations and professional growth.
