Martha M. Lemert, Partner
Burt Blee Dixon Sutton & Bloom
mlemert@burtblee.com | (260) 426-1300 | burtblee.com
Martha M. Lemert is lucky to have come from a long line of educated women. Her great-grandmother and both of her grandmothers had four-year college degrees. The downside was that they were never able to use their degrees to enjoy a career beyond motherhood. Lemert feels lucky to live in an era where she has not only been able to enjoy being a mom, but been able to use her education over the past 30 years practicing law.
Lemert’s legal career journey has been less a leisurely stroll and more a hopscotch course. After college and law school, she began her career representing labor clients in labor-related disputes at a small law firm in Cleveland, Ohio. It was a big move to come to Fort Wayne and represent the management side. It was an even bigger leap to become a partner – first at Faegre Baker Daniels and now at Burt Blee. Now, as Lemert prepares to take on the managing partner role from her mentor and colleague Jeffrey Clark, she finds herself not only at the table, but at the head of it. Lemert hopes that she can walk the walk to match all the talks and training she has been given as an employment lawyer on how to be a good manager.
In taking on this expanded role, Lemert is reminded that the thing she enjoys most about the practice of law is helping people solve problems. She hopes to continue that problem solving work not only on behalf of the firm’s clients, but on behalf of the firm itself. She aspires to emulate the values and commitment to the law, the firm, and the community exemplified by Burt Blee’s founder, J. Philip “Phil” Burt. He believed that lawyers can play a crucial role for good and justice in our world beyond the four walls of our offices.
Lemert thanks her partners for giving her this opportunity and for putting their faith in her. She hopes to make both them and Phil proud.

Patricia Clark, MD, FACS, Breast Tumor Site Team Chair
Parkview Packnett Family Cancer Institute
parkview.com/medical-services/cancer
Dr. Patricia Clark is an internationally recognized breast surgeon who joined Parkview Health in September 2024. Bringing 20+ years of experience treating all forms of breast cancer, Clark’s focus area has been in oncoplastic surgery, which combines cancer surgery with plastic surgery to minimize the occurrence of deformities (that can occur with traditional breast surgery techniques) and to prevent unnecessary mastectomies. It has been a career goal to see these techniques more widely used in the U.S. and she continues to work with surgical societies and peers worldwide to achieve this goal. She is well-known as a surgical educator — developing or chairing courses for organizations such as the American Society of Breast Surgeons, American College of Surgeons and Society of Surgical Oncology.
The surgeons at the Parkview Packnett Family Cancer Institute (PFCI) are equipped with the training and experience to be U.S. leaders in this field — with expertise that has already positioned PFCI as a referral center for a large region. This, along with the institute’s National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) accredited program and state-of-the-art facilities designed around patient experience, played a significant role in her decision to join the team.
Clark’s commitment to research, education and training, and active collaboration across the field has resulted in multiple publications in prestigious medical journals such as the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) and Annals Surgical Oncology. With Parkview’s infrastructure and specialized staff, Clark looks forward to delivering state-of-the-art breast cancer care to patients throughout the region.
Clark earned her B.S. in Biology, summa cum laude, from the University of Southern Colorado in 1993, followed by an M.D. from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in 1998. She completed a residency in General Surgery at Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital from 1998 to 2003.
