1 - Family
Katie’s crew means everything to her. She’s been married to her husband Nathan since 2004 and together they are raising their four children — Luke, Nicholas, Maggie and Ben. Ben, a senior at Bishop Dwenger and in the top-10 of his class, is heading to Indiana University in Bloomington this coming fall, which bodes well for the IU-loving family. And we can’t fail to mention the newest addition to the Steigmeyer group, Charlie — an adorable Cavapoo who loves with all of his little being.
2 - Diet Coke
She’s not a coffee drinker, but turns to Diet Coke for a good pick-me-up. Katie typically drinks two per day, and even keeps an official Diet Coke mini fridge at the office.
3 - Allen County War Memorial Coliseum
The Coliseum has been and continues to be a huge part of Katie’s life. Nearing her 22-year anniversary, she came on board in October of 2002 under the leadership of Randy Brown — an individual who was instrumental to Katie and her career. She worked with Brown for almost 20 years until his retirement in 2021. Her first position with the Coliseum was premium seating manager. She then moved to director of catering and lastly corporate partnerships manager, a role she’s been in now for almost eight years. Throughout her tenure, Katie has been able to raise her four children and remain an integral part of the Coliseum’s success through both full-time and part-time positions. She feels blessed to have always had the support of the Coliseum and her teammates, and considers the environment a breath of fresh air. She loves the relationships she’s built and the amazing leaders she’s been fortunate to work with, including current Executive Vice President and General Manager, Melanie Henkes Carney.
4 - Pedicure
Katie loves a good pedicure. While she isn’t married to one salon in particular, find her someone who can give a great massage and she’s sold. A bright red/orange with a little sparkle is her go-to color.
5 - Annual Holiday Shopping Trip
Every year during the first week of December, you’ll find Katie in Chicago with her mom, aunt Karen and cousin Emily. Katie and Emily grew up living next door to one another and their families have always been extremely close. When Emily moved to Chicago upon graduating from college, it became tradition to take a trip to the Windy City every year to spend time together. They stay right off of Michigan Avenue and spend the weekend shopping and simply being together. The December 2024 trip will be the group’s 20th, and they look forward to adding another Christmas ornament to their collection.
6 - Lake James & Lake George
Katie’s great grandparents bought a cottage on Lake James and it’s still owned by the family to this day. The lake is “home” to Katie and she loves all the things that come with it — boating, fishing, swimming, you name it. Nathan’s family has a cottage on Lake George that is well-loved, too. He and his four siblings bring their families to the cottage during the summer, and between the five there are 23 cousins total.
7 - Holiday Baking Extravaganza
Another holiday tradition for Katie is baking with her mom and sisters. They have developed quite the list of cookies and candies to bake, and once all is said and done, make more than 100 dozen treats over the course of just a few days. While Katie’s favorite cookie is the cutout, she also loves making her grandma’s caramels and has perfected the recipe that was passed down to her so many years ago.
8 - Wine & Tequila
Give her a good glass of Pinot Grigio or a margarita on the rocks with salt and she’s a happy camper.
9 - Volunteering
Born and raised in the Catholic church, Katie learned at a young age the importance giving back. Once she had a family of her own, she made sure to invest in the organizations that supported her children. She ran the St. Charles Borromeo Parish Festival, is a member of the Bishop Dwenger school board and helps with its annual fundraiser, Saints Alive!, and has also contributed largely to the success of Glen Aqua Pool.
