Wardrobe Essentials for Work

Does dressing for the office sometimes have you stumped? Solidarity, sister. Finding work clothing that is affordable, stylish and comfortable isn’t always easy. With many back in the office post-pandemic, gone are the days of changing from pajamas to “nice” pajamas, and moving from bed directly to your at-home office (the kitchen).

So how do we make putting together work outfits feel a little less stressful? Finding staple pieces for your closet that work for you is a good place to start. Vogue suggests the following 10 non-negotiables for your work wardrobe.

  1. While you don’t have to wear a blazer to be a trailblazer, who doesn’t love a good blazer? Whether you choose to go the tailored route or oversized, blazers can smarten up the simplest look.
  2. The Nine-to-Five dress. We love style with minimal effort. Midi-dresses are especially in and, depending on the style, can be paired with a wide variety of shoes and jewelry.
  3. A versatile and reliable trouser is a must. Most hit right above the ankle, so pick a pair of fun shoes to compliment the look. Wide-leg trousers work too, especially for a more relaxed look.
  4. A button-up shirt will forever be a classic wardrobe staple. It can be dressed up and worn with a skirt and blazer, or dressed down, worn over a white tee with jeans.
  5. According to Vogue, midiskirts are the answer to any and all of your office attire needs. They give more coverage than a mini and less than a maxi — the perfect happy-medium. Wear the midi with chunky boots and a sweater in the winter, or wedges and a tee in the summer.
  6. The right pair of denim is arguably one of the most important pieces that you need in your workwear carousel. We’re fortunate to be in a time where there are options as far as style goes. Whether you choose wide-leg, flare or skinny, find the right fit for you.
  7. You can’t go wrong with a good pair of loafers. With a platform or without, loafers can be paired with trousers, denim or midiskirts if styled the right way.
  8. We love an office-appropriate sneaker, and white sneakers are especially on-trend today.?
  9. Work bags and totes should be both stylish and functional. Can it take you from work to exercise class to mom-life? It better be durable, too.?
  10. Even if you do work from home, jewelry will still stand out on screen. Simple and dainty pieces are eye-catching, but so are earrings and bracelets sprinkled with pops of color.
