Describe yourself in three words. Quiet, easygoing but stubborn
In what city did you grow up? Fort Wayne
What book has had the greatest impact on you? I read voraciously and I can’t say there is just one that has impacted me. For fun, I love the Thursday Next series written by Jasper Forde. He creates a whole world within books – which are rather scary in how accurately they blend today’s world with the analog world of reading books the old fashioned way.
What is the first movie you ever saw in a theater? Bambi – it scared the heck out of me
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? A veterinarian, until I learned you had to be good at math and not just the simple adding and subtracting stuff
What famous person would you most like to meet? I would love to have a meal with Gordon Ramsey – he can be a jerk on his shows I know but I think do away with the act and he’d be fascinating to hear stories about and talk about cooking and food
What is your favorite part of your job? Helping my team help our clients – I love finding new ways to do our jobs easier in terms of the technical pieces of it so more time can be spent on creating relationships with our clients
What do you actually do at your job? Fortunately, a lot of my favorite parts of my job are because of the amazing people I have working with me and I don’t have to spend a lot of time working ‘in’ my business!
What was your first job? A fabric store in Glenbrook Mall – So-Fro
What is your greatest accomplishment? Being a parent who raised a smart, caring and thoughtful daughter; with help of my husband
Who is your hero? My daughter. She has proven to me time and time again that marching to your own music is a good thing and who cares what everyone else thinks… you ‘should’ be doing.
What is your biggest pet peeve? Rudeness. There is just no reason to be rude to people when you are out and about. Even if something has gone wrong and they are at fault you still don’t have to be rude – you can be adult and talk it out without getting all righteous.
Do you have a motto you live by? If so, what is it? A quote that hangs on my bulletin board at work that I absolutely love is “Content yourself with doing and leave the talking to others”
What three items would you want with you if you were stranded on a desert island (other than food and water)? A case of books, a case of sunscreen and a hat
If you could travel anywhere, where would you go? Right now Patagonia is calling me. Also I’m yearning to go dogsledding in Sweden in the winter way up north.
How often do you exercise? Formally two times a week, but working on increasing my days
Where will you go on your next vacation? As I write this I am 15 days away from a week in St. Lucia
What’s one thing you can’t live without? My husband and my daughter
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given? If you have a problem with everyone around you, it’s probably worth thinking about whether it’s really everyone else or yourself that needs work.
What’s your biggest fear? That I won’t keep up with the times. I see nothing worse than becoming stuck at a certain point in life and refusing to learn and change.
Name one person who has inspired you in your life. My Dad. He made himself successful through smart work and determination in the face of nay-sayers. I learned my stubbornness from him I think.
