As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Larry: I wanted to be a scientist or an engineer working on the space program. I actually was able to work on a NASA zero gravity catalyst synthesis program for one of the Space Shuttle flights as a consulting industrial scientist in the mid-90s.
Pam: I always wanted to be the boss, so I became a school principal…a really mean one!
What is your favorite part of your job?
Pam: Drinking wine!
What three items would you want with you if you were stranded on a desert island (other than food and water)?
Larry: A computer, solar power source and satellite antenna so I can email someone my location to get me home. That’s a joke answer, however. In keeping with the philosophy of the question, I would want pen and paper to record stuff and an unlimited supply of matches to start a fire whenever I needed it.
If you could trade places with any other person for a week, with whom would you trade places?
Pam: Andrew Constantine. It would be magic to conduct the Philharmonic.
If you could meet one person (living or dead), who would you want to meet?
Pam: My great grandfather Kreibaum. We started the winery because of land he bought on Lake James over 100 years ago. He grew apples and we grow grapes.
If you had a time machine, where and to what time period would you travel?
Larry: I would go back to the framing of the Constitution.
If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?
Pam: Embracing Life, Enjoying Wine
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Larry: Oxygen. Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
What is the best gift you have ever been given?
Pam: My best gift is seven wonderful grandkids.
Larry: My mother was diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic at the age of 10, about one year after insulin became available. I was born as one of the earlier babies of a diabetic mother when most of the medical community was still unsure about risks and outcome to mother and baby.
Where will you go on your next vacation?
Larry: We are taking some of the kids and grandkids to Europe—London, Paris and Rome—this summer followed by a trip to a number of Baltic countries and Russia.
What would you choose as your last meal?
Pam: Hog fish…sounds strange, but absolutely delicious!
What is your greatest accomplishment?
Larry: I believe it is demonstrating that good wines can be grown in our part of Indiana. A lot of people were non-believers 24 years ago when we first started planning the winery.
What is your favorite...
Vacation spot?
Both: Key West
Holiday? Why?
Larry: Tie Memorial Day and Veterans Day. We screw up a lot in this country, but a lot of good people died to give us that chance to make life work for everyone. I always want to keep that in mind.
Pam: Thanksgiving. I make a scrumptious turkey.
Sports team?
Pam: Go Colts!
Larry: I grew up in Wisconsin during the Vince Lombardi era. Green Bay Packers!

TV show?
Pam: “House Hunters International”

Pam: Bridge
Flavor of ice cream?
Larry: Either coconut or blueberry cheesecake

Larry: Ski trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan
