USF Offering New Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling

The 36 credit-hour program will introduce students to the rehabilitation field by teaching counseling and rehabilitation theories, applied counseling approaches and clinical skills to assist individuals with physical, mental and emotional disabilities to function at their maximum levels. In partnership with USF faculty and community agencies, students can learn to enhance the personal, social and economic independence of such people.

Completion of the program provides a foundation for admission to doctoral programs in psychology, as well as the required pre-requisites for admission to USF’s clinical mental health counseling program for licensure as a mental health counselor in the state of Indiana. Combining the master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling with the clinical mental health counseling program provides an education aligned with the Counsel on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) and Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) accrediting bodies.
