January's Writer's Block

This issue of Business People magazine marks our 24th anniversary in business. It was mid-1987 when I began the search for a place to publish a regional business magazine. As a young, recent college graduate, I was not too concerned about failing at my new business venture. The opportunity to start a small business was a blessing and I was ready to accept it. The rest, as they say, is history.

So, here we are all these years later. We still publish Business People each month. But we do so much more—much of which I had no idea would be part of our business. In addition to Business People magazine, we publish Fort Wayne Living, Planning Your Wedding, BusinessWomen of Northeast Indiana, This is Fort Wayne and the Business Information Guide. The latter two for the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce and the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance respectively.

In 2011 we became the advertising sales arm for Fort Wayne International Airport. Working together with the FWA management and advertisers, we offer advertising exposure to over 500,000 air travelers each year.

We also offer graphic design services to businesses in need of brochures and other marketing materials. And, our sales staff has become known throughout the region as some of the best marketing minds around.

Now it is time to plan our 25th anniversary celebration. It will take place early in 2013. We’re considering a lot of ideas. A grand party, a special 25th anniversary issue of Business People, a roast, a charity giveback and other stuff we haven’t thought of yet.
