In September 2016, United Airlines began non-stop service from Fort Wayne International Airport to New York City by way of Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). This non-stop service not only brings an east coast connection to our area, but also opens up a world of opportunities for business operations (and fun leisure time) in the city.
One of the questions people have when traveling to NYC is how to navigate from the airport to the city. Venturing into the Big Apple is only a hop, skip and a jump away from Newark Liberty International Airport with numerous ways to get into the city. The airport boasts a number of ground transportation options including car rental, bus service, train service, taxis, Uber and more! Whether you’re going for business or pleasure, getting from EWR to NYC doesn’t have to be a hassle! Be in the know before you go, and take a look at some of these quick, easy and convenient ways to get you from the airport to the city in no time.
When you’re traveling through EWR, heading into Manhattan, or even making a connecting flight at another New York area airport, the train is one of the most popular forms of transportation out of Newark. Upon arriving at EWR, it is highly suggested to hop on the Newark AirTrain. AirTrain is a quick and convenient way to get where you need to be with connections to regional public transit systems including Amtrack and New Jersey Transit. Both Amtrak and New Jersey Transit have train operations to a number of stops, with arrival at Penn Station in the heart of NYC.
When you think of heading into the city, taking a ride on a bus may not be your first thought. However, EWR boasts two great bus options to get you from the airport to the Big Apple quickly and efficiently. The New Jersey Transit offers bus service from every terminal at EWR into the heart of NYC with stops at Penn Station, Bryant Park and the Port Authority Bus Terminal. For an elevated bus experience, travel on Express Bus from Newark into Manhattan in a relaxing motor coach.
Taxis and Ridesharing
You can’t think of New York City without picturing a business person in a suit hailing a bright yellow taxi cab in the middle of Manhattan. At Newark Liberty International Airport, they make it a bit easier for you to hop in a cab and be on your way to New York City. Taxi cabs can be found outside of the arrivals area of each terminal. You can also visit the airport Welcome Center to arrange for a taxi pickup. Ridesharing companies Uber and Lyft are also permitted to pick up passengers at EWR, meaning you can request your ride after the plane touches down and have it waiting for you as soon as you collect your luggage.
