Company will move its manufacturing operations to Fort Wayne
Solfire Contract Manufacturing will be expanding and relocating part of its manufacturing operations from Cicero, Ill., to Decatur Road. Along with relocating, the company will expand its workforce by adding 16 jobs. Solfire CMI will invest approximately $451,000 in the relocation, which is expected to be completed in 2014.
“We saw Fort Wayne as a competitive location for our manufacturing operations,” says Otto Solis president of Solfire. “Indiana has a hard-working, dedicated workforce, and we are excited locate ourselves in a strategic location such as Fort Wayne.”
Solfire CMI is a manufacturing subcontractor of die-cut gasket, seal and filter components used in appliance, acoustic, industrial and consumer goods applications. Upon moving a portion of its manufacturing operations to Fort Wayne, it will create 12 full-time and four part-time positions. Solfire is eligible to receive a seven-year tax abatement with estimated savings of $12,579.
“We have been working hard to create a Fort Wayne where businesses can prosper and I’m thrilled to welcome Solfire Contract Manufacturing to Fort Wayne. This relocation announcement sends a message to other non-local companies that they should take a closer look at our city,” says Mayor Tom Henry. “We will continue to work on issues that make us more business-friendly.”
